D-Day: Seven Decades Later

For many of us June 6th was just a normal day that came and went but 69 years ago on the beaches of Normandy France, America and allied forces put a major dent in the Nazi forces that had taken over Europe. Around 160,000 allied soldiers made the trip across the English Channel on a foggy morning to heavy resistance in many places from the well dug in Nazi military. One of the largest amphibious assaults in history was headed by Dwight D. Eisenhower who stated he would accept nothing less than full victory. Many brave men selflessly gave their lives that day for the betterment of the world. WWII was a long hard fought war with millions of lives lost. We need to remember these days and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms both in the past and this very day. Take some time to thank a veteran, they will really appreciate the gesture. We at Liberty Speaks want to thank all of our veterans and active duty service members!
